The New England Learning Association (NELA) brings together professionals in industry and education for the purpose of advancing the successful adoption of technology for learning. NELA leverages New England's position as a leader in education and technology innovation to enhance the human potential of individuals and organizations.
Since 2001, NELA (originally BELA - Boston E-Learning Association) has established a reputation as one of the fastest growing, premier professional associations in the area. NELA participants are a dynamic and diverse group, coming from all segments of the professional learning community: corporate, higher-ed, and K-12. They include executives, managers, trainers, instructional designers, technologists, consultants, and solutions providers. As NELA expands, it is organizing multiple Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to address specific needs. See Special Interest Groups (SIGs).
NELA is best known for organizing high-quality, well-attended events. For example, the industry panel events feature top executives sharing their real-world experiences adapting learning technology within their organizations. Other events feature renowned thought-leaders discussing current as well as future innovations in technology. For the 2003-04 season, NELA has significantly expanded the number and variety of its events. See Events.
NELA exists because New England is at the center of innovation for education and technology that spans several dimensions. New England is home for many of the world's leading e-learning solutions providers, content publishers, industry analysts, and academic institutions. Further, New England continues to spawn and nurture new ventures and initiatives. NELA aspires to provide a forum for all participants to meet, share and promote common interests. NELA is particularly grateful to those participants with the foresight to support the association's mission. See Join Us -- NELA Membership.
NELA believes that the most exciting innovations and opportunities for this industry lie just ahead. It strives to provide its community access to best practices, as well as the latest information on industry trends. See Research section.
