New England Learning Association's special interest groups bring together our various industry segments and more specialized communities to share information, best practices, and discuss the implementation of new ideas. Our educational offerings include speaker or panel events, roundtable discussions, online events, and SIG specific meetings. We are looking for new ideas for SIGs, SIG leaders, and active participants.
NELA currently has three SIGs:
• Healthcare
• Educational Technologies (K-12)
• Financial Services
Please contact the specific SIG (see below) for further information on upcoming activities. NELA intends to form additional SIGs in the near future. If you would like to help organize a new SIG, contact us at: info@nelearning.org
Healthcare
Douglas Dell, Chair
Launched in March 2003, the Healthcare group was the very first special interest group of the New England Learning Association. The Healthcare SIG brings
together professionals from healthcare, medical technology, pharmaceutical,
biotech as well as medical practitioners and educators throughout New
England and across the nation.
Our mission includes advancing the successful adoption of learning
technology as it relates to improving healthcare practices. Our goal is to
support our unique community as they make the transition to employing new
teaching methods and tools including e-learning and a host of other
technology driven products that enhance the learning process specific to industry trends such as HIPAA, Quality of Care, Clinical Segments, compliance and Disease Prevention. And further, to use this technology to reach out to healthcare consumers.

Educational Technologies (K-12)
Phyllis Diaz Cerys, Chair
Jim Flanagan, Co-Chair
Launched in May 2003, the Educational Technologies (K-12) group is the newest addition to New England Learning Association's growing list of special interest groups. We bring together professionals from the education industry, educational practitioners, decision-makers, and academics within the K-12 educational technology community throughout New England and across the nation.
Our mission includes advancing the successful adoption of technology for learning in the K-12 curricula and finding ways to support educators as they make the transition to employing new teaching methods and tools. This includes e-learning, simulations, educational software, assistive technologies, and a host of other digitally driven products that enhance the learning process. We believe that, in order to be successful, the student of the 21st century must gain fluency with a variety of learning technologies early in their educational career since they will encounter these in institutions of higher learning and in the work place.
